Continuous Professional Development

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is an initiative to create a knowledge-sharing platform, that involves all academicians from across all Ambassador campuses, for sharing of best practices, providing quality support and monitoring effectiveness.

Ambassador School, Sharjah conducts the annual CPD programme which comprises extensive workshops involving both internal and external resources, leadership and subject matter trainings, introduction of new teaching-learning techniques, worldwide education trends and skill developments.

The focus areas of development being:

Curriculum Design

Experts from the field of education regularly train the teachers to design a comprehensive curriculum that is relevant to today’s learners. The curriculum delivery format and content are regularly updated taking into account the individuality of each learner so that we can cater to the needs of each of our students.

Assessment
The pattern of assessment is vast and definitive. The teachers are trained to understand how student assessment plays a vital role in understanding various milestones achieved by the students and how they have progressed in their academic session.

Behaviour Policy
A comprehensive document that has assisted all staff to further understand how to deal with behaviour issues. A step-by-step procedure leading to consequences that are commensurate with the offences are well expounded. Cyber-bullying and classroom bullying are important sub-topics of this session.

Child Protection Policy
Entire staff is well aware of the universal policy relating to children and how to deal with situations appropriately in cases of students needing protection. Repeat workshops are conducted for reinforcement.

Communication skills
Communication being an important area of focus, topics like professional conduct, approach and handling issues are addressed. Appropriate methods of support-learning and interaction with students in classroom, one-to-one counselling or group sessions set are discussed and set. A code of conduct for both academic and non-academic staff while addressing Ambassador parents or students is rolled out which everyone follows.

Understanding Data
The pivot of assessment and progress is to understand and interpret the data correctly or effectively. This CPD focuses on the progress of the students and the evaluation of the staff’s approach to setting targets and achieving the high standards set by the SAS Team.

Experiential Learning
Students learn better when they are involved in the learning process. The element of curiosity and the experience, the child goes through while understanding a lesson will have a long-lasting impact on the child’s mind. Creating the right environment for learning of various concepts are taken up by the subject matter experts through collaborative sessions.

Monitoring Progress and Reporting
How can I know if my students are making progress in my lessons? This all-important question is answered through CPDs. Monitoring student’s progress and eventually the entire class’s cumulatively add up to the whole school progress and an important agenda for CPD is, therefore, progress monitoring.

Effective teaching and learning strategies
improving the quality of teaching learning by developing the knowledge, skills and teaching learning strategies of educators to suit the 21 century learning skills.

Enhancing technological skills
Contribute to enhanced teacher understanding and practice, involving technologies to support students’ learning. Training on various online platforms and Apps for teaching learning and assessment equip the teachers to handle technology effectively.

Empowering middle leaders
A middle leaders pathway program empowers and nurtures the skills of middle level leaders to be effective managers of the department. There is a range of modules and workshops incorporated in CPDs and there are other sessions that evolve from the outcome of school interactions in various departments and teachers, thus the planning for CPDs is ongoing and dynamic in order to provide the best facilitators for our students.
